Key Marketing Expertise

Strategic Marketing, MarCom, Web Marketing, Market Research, PR.

Personality

Individual personality : Enthusiastic, intuitive, independent, open-minded, imaginative, creative, prefer to work with people and ideas and concepts, well-developed written and oral communication skills. I would rather change procedures to see if any improvement can be made, rather than just run them.

Group role : Being around people energizes me. Tend to be perceptive and cooperative. I like to include others in the process of developing ideas and vision.

People management : Creating motivation and enthusiasm for a project is more important to me than management by control over individuals.

Private Milestones

I am 6: talking everybody's head off in class. Learning to write with a stylus I get from school. Wanting desperately to write with a "real" pen (yes, the ones with ink cartridges). Only, Mom demands that "talks too much" disappears from my school report. For 3 months! But it does, and I get the real pen. (The oral communication skills however re-appear on school reports, leading to speculations about me becoming a lawyer, ouch!)

I am 19: starting up a feminist student workgroup, opening university debate on gender-related matters. Discussion evenings, study trips, publications, literature sessions, etc. I still manage to see many parallels between the "ideal" world and the world of marketing and communications. Which ones? Let's have a drink and discuss.

I am 30: my son is born at home, in our temporary house in the Netherlands. In the large bedroom, without a doctor in sight (well, 1 was, but more in a parental role), to be discovered by his little sister, everybody just in time for breakfast in bed.

My books of inspiration

Open Minds by Andy Law
ISBN: 0-75281-388-9
A few brave men turn their backs on conventional business life, and create one of the most challenging corporate models for St. Luke's Advertising Agency.

The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
ISBN: 0-451-19115-3
"My philosophy, in essence, is the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute." --Ayn Rand

Boze Geesten by F.M. Dostojewski
ISBN: Van Oorschot Amsterdam 1959
This is a masterpiece about psychology, religion and the monster of collectivism, written with an exceptional vision and lucidity.  Dostojewski predicted the rise and fall of totalitarian communism long before it appeared, solely on the basis of human psychology.

Virtuele Tomaten en Conceptuele Pindakaas by Goos Geursen
ISBN: 90-267-23318

Read about marketing, brands, communication, and people in this eclectic and inspiring chaos permissive book, with a great iography.

Midnights Children by Salman Rushdie
ISBN: 039451470X
"Reality is a question of perspective" --Salman Rushdie (I loved all of Rushdie's books, admire the story telling).

My motto

The only thing that is good without qualification is the good will -- Immanuel Kant
